Farming in Leelanau County generated almost $29 million in sales of agricultural products in 1997.

Agriculture may contribute as much as $50 million annually to Leelanau County's economy.

The scenic beauty and rural character of farmland contribute to the high quality of life that makes Leelanau County a desirable place to live. It also helps attract visitors and thus contributes to the county's $77 million annual tourism industry.
