While the number of school-aged children in Leelanau County has increased over the last twenty years, it's growing at a much slower rate than the general population. The numbers of preschool aged children are actually decreasing, despite major population growth. This is impacting elementary school enrollments county-wide. The highest percentages of school-aged children are found in Kasson and Solon Townships, western Elmwood Township, and parts of Centerville, Suttons Bay and Bingham Townships.
