Suttons Bay is a steadily growing progressive district situated on the eastern edge of Leelanau County between Lake Leelanau and Grand Traverse Bay. The community offers a small town feeling yet offers close proximity to the amenities of Traverse City. Its population is culturally diverse, with 15% being minority students. Our Mission is that Suttons Bay Schools will prepare individuals to meet the challenges of the future by ensuring success for every student. Successful students will: be lifelong learners; have the ability to cooperate with others to achieve common goals; be problem solvers; display their personal strengths and positive characteristics; be able to effectively read, write and orally communicate across the curriculum; be responsible citizens; understand and respect cultural diversity locally, nationally, and globally; and recognize and value high quality in what they and others have done. The administration and staff are very involved in area leadership activities and are committed to personal and educational growth. Parental involvement is very strong as evidenced by attendance at parent-teacher conferences and involvement in PTO and a variety of enrichment projects. Being a small school, Suttons Bay offers ample opportunity for all to be involved in a wide range of co-curricular activities for both boys and girls, ranging from the fine arts to academic enrichment to athletics. Suttons Bay Elementary, Middle and High Schools are all fully accredited by the North Central Association.
