Turn left on M-204 at the north end of town. Take M-204 until it ends at M-22. Turn right on M-22 towards Leland. In Leland at the Early Bird restaurant turn right on River Street. Go 1 block and turn right on Chandler. Go 1 block to Cedar St. Turn left. The courthouse will be on your left. Parking is available all around the building. Family Court offices are located just to your left after you enter at the main door. Directions from Northport From Northport, take M-22 south to Leland. Turn left at the Early Bird restaurant and follow above directions from that point on. Hours The office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is usually someone here during the lunch hour, but we do close at lunch occasionally. Jurisdiction Family Court has jurisdiction over: adoptions; child protective proceedings; divorce; emancipation; juvenile delinquency; minor name changes; adult name changes; parenting time, custody and support; paternity; and personal protection orders. Family Court may also have ancillary jurisdiction over cases involving guardianships, conservatorships, and proceedings involving the mentally ill or developmentally disabled. Ancillary Jurisdiction In most cases, Probate Court has jurisdiction for guardianships, conservatorships, and involuntary hospitalization of the mentally ill. However, these proceedings would be filed in the Family Court if the individual is already involved in a Family Court matter.
