Winners Announced of the Leelanau Farmers Markets Logo and Slogan Contest

The Leelanau Farmers Markets Association (LFMA) held a Logo and Slogan Contest and congratulates Becky Walter of Nashville, TN for submitting the winning logo and Vanessa Fox Gruenwald of Suttons Bay for submitting the winning slogan for the Leelanau Farmers Markets contest. 

Ms. Walter designed a logo incorporating fruits and vegetables within an outline of Leelanau County.  She is a native of Suttons Bay and a graduate of Suttons Bay High School.  She graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in graphic design.  She worked as an Apparel Illustrator and Design Manager for Nike for 12 years in Portland, Oregon, and is currently a self-employed designer of cycling apparel and graphics for an Italian apparel company.  She and her husband and two young children frequently visit her family in Suttons Bay.  “I was honored to create a logo for the Leelanau Farmers Markets as it gave me an opportunity to help promote the markets and give back a little something to the county.”, said Ms. Walter.

Ms. Fox Gruenwald is a local multi-media artist and submitted the winning slogan “Freshness Unparalleled”.   For over 20 years, she has incorporated found antique items and objects found from nature to create one-of-a-kind art glass works and stepping stones that grace homes.   Her art has recently been featured at the Anchor Cottage during the Suttons Bay Art Walk, and at Michigan Artist Gallery in Suttons Bay, as well as galleries downstate.  She frequents local art shows and art walks.   Her latest designs include a collection of beautiful greeting cards and gift tags.  She lives in Suttons Bay with her husband and owns Laughing Fox Studios. 

Winners were awarded gift certificates redeemable at the Leelanau Farmers Markets.  The LFMA is proud to announce these talented winners and share the new logo and slogan with the community.  The LFMA operates six farmers markets in Leelanau County.  Dates and times of the farmers markets can be found at www.eatleelanau.org or by calling 231-256-9888.
