Hosted by Leelanau 4-H, this free, 4-week 4-H Public Speaking course is for youth in grades 6-12 and offered on the following Mondays from 6-6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The topics that are covered include:

  • Week 1 (May 11): From Fear to Fantastic: how to manage stage fright
  • Week 2 (May 18): Impromptu Speaking:  speaking "off the cuff" to celebrate/commemorate 
  • Week 3 (May 25): Informative Speaking: telling, teaching, talking about useful topics
  • Week 4 (June 1): Persuasive Speaking: influencing positive changes through your ideas and words

Every Wednesday throughout the growing season, MSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will be available live via Zoom to answer your lawn and garden questions. They will help you with diagnosing lawn and garden problems, vegetable garden advice, and insect and plant identification.  To ask your questions, all you have to do is join the Zoom meeting between the hours of 11am and 1pm on any Wednesday. The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners will be participating in its April 21, 2020, Regular Session via Zoom, with the meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Please preregister for public comment through the County Clerk’s Office (231-256-9824 or clerk@co.leelanau.mi.us); we are asking for the following information –

  • Name, phone number, and general topic (topic is optional)
  • Select which of the two Public Comment sessions you wish to address the Board

We will only be admitting you to the Zoom session during the appropriate PC period of your choosing. You can watch the meeting as it is live-streamed on YouTube to get a better idea of how soon you will be admitted to the meeting to speak.

As described on the agenda for this meeting, you will need to call the following number to participate in the meeting – 1-312-626-6799. The Meeting ID number is 954-5259-9680.

Follow the voice prompts until it says you are in the waiting room.

We welcome comments submitted by email as well.

RECYCLING GUIDELINES:

DO NOT put items into the recycling containers that we do not accept (see signs on the containers). 

Please DO NOT recycle used paper towels, medical waste supplies, tissues or wet paper cleaning materials.

Please DO recycle CLEAN cardboard, plastic, glass, metal and paper from households. 

TRASH GUIDELINES:

BAG ALL TRASH, especially used/wet tissues, paper towels, toiletries, diapers, personal hygiene items, cleaning rags and towel.
